Minister of Health Prof. Ferruccio Fazio has issued Circular with recommendations for the prevention of influenza season 2010-2011, taking into account the current level of pandemic alert to the H1N1 virus.
At the moment, in the Southern Hemisphere countries, entered the winter season and for which there are surveillance data of influenza-like illness, the evolution of these appears to be stable or slightly increased, with a small percentage of cases related to the pandemic virus and the rest of the syndromes is attributable to other viruses. The composition of the vaccine for the upcoming 2010-11 season for the northern hemisphere is as follows:
A/California/7/2009 antigen similar to the strain (H1N1) strain of so-called "pandemic" is similar to the antigen
A/Perth/16/2009 (H3N2) strain is similar to the antigen
B/Brisbane/60/2008.
The vaccination campaign season, which starts in October, is sponsored by the Health Service nazionale ed è rivolta principalmente ai soggetti classificati e individuati a rischio di complicanze severe, e a volte letali, in caso contraggano l’influenza ed alle persone non a rischio che svolgano attività di particolare valenza sociale. L’offerta di vaccino a queste categorie è gratuita ed attiva da parte delle Regioni e Province Autonome. L’elenco delle categorie cui offrire prioritariamente la vaccinazione, le altre misure preventive nei confronti dell’infezione, insieme ad altre informazioni e alle indicazioni per la sorveglianza delle sindromi simil-influenzali e dei virus influenzali circolanti nel nostro Paese, sono visionabili nella Circolare del 29 luglio 2010.
